Kyle Fraser has made a remarkable recovery following his early departure from Survivor 50.
The winner of season 48 provided an update on his health after viewers witnessed him tear his Achilles tendon, leading to an emotional exit during the premiere on February 25.
“I had surgery that week,” Kyle stated during a February 26 interview alongside fellow eliminated contestant Jenna Lewis-Dougherty on CBS Mornings. “I’m running [as of] three weeks ago, so we’re still recovering. We’re on the up and up.”
“It’s tough because just two weeks earlier, I won,” he continued. “The whole world saw me win a million dollars, and then to tear your Achilles two weeks later—and to know that I got pulled from the game only four days in, it was heartbreaking.”
Kyle showcased his teamwork during the immunity challenge as he helped his tribe members ascend a structure before sustaining his injury. Although his tribe emerged victorious, Jeff Probst and Dr. Joe made the decision to medically evacuate him, a choice that brought him to tears.
