Kyle MacLachlan Returns to Pacific Northwest for Emerald City Comic Con

Agent Dale Cooper is returning to the misty landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Fortunately, nobody’s been discovered wrapped in plastic this time — he’s attending Emerald City Comic-Con. Collider can exclusively announce that Kyle MacLachlan, known for Twin Peaks, Dune, and Fallout, will be in Seattle next year for their largest pop culture convention. Emerald City Comic Con will take place from March 5-8, 2026; MacLachlan will be present on March 7 and 8, available for photo opportunities and participating in a panel discussion.

MacLachlan has strong connections to the area; he was born in Yakima, Washington, and graduated from the University of Washington. While still a student, he made his first on-screen appearance as an extra in the Seattle-set horror classic George C. Scott‘s The Changeling. Additionally, Twin Peaks is set in the fictional rural Washington town of the same name; exterior scenes for the series were filmed on location in Washington, with various small towns representing Twin Peaks. MacLachlan also ventured one state south to portray the Mayor of Portland, Oregon, in the IFC sketch comedy series Portlandia.

Who Is Kyle MacLachlan?

MacLachlan was discovered to star as Paul Atreides in David Lynch‘s Dune in 1984; although Dune was a disappointment to both the studio and Lynch, Lynch did not forget the young actor and cast him in the lead role in 1986’s Blue Velvet. Now regarded as one of Lynch’s masterpieces, the film launched MacLachlan’s career and forever linked him with Lynch, who cast him as Dale Cooper on Twin Peaks, as well as its theatrical continuation, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, and its long-awaited sequel, Twin Peaks: The Return.

His other significant film roles include The Hidden, The Doors, The Flintstones, Showgirls, Inside Out, and Blink Twice. He has also had prominent television roles on Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and Fallout, which returns for Season 2 next month. He can currently be seen as Oklahoma politician Donald Washberg on FX’s The Lowdown, and alongside Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney in the AppleTV movie Echo Valley. He will next appear as Penn Badgley‘s father in the romantic comedy You Deserve Each Other.

Emerald City Comic Con has already announced a variety of guests for next year’s event, with more to be revealed soon. They include comic legends Chris Claremont and Gail Simone; stars from Critical Role: Laura Bailey, Matthew Mercer, and Liam O’Brien; and stars from RoboCop: Peter Weller and Nancy Allen.
