Life of a Showgirl by Taylor Swift Interpolates George Michael Classic
Taylor Swift is honoring the late George Michael with one of the songs on her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl!
It has been revealed that the 35-year-old entertainer is paying tribute to the late singer with her new song, “Father Figure,” featuring an interpolation of George‘s ’80s hit of the same name.

Billboard has confirmed that the new track will actually interpolate the 80s hit, instead of sampling it, as it was previously rumored for weeks.
If you didn’t know, an interpolation “involves taking part of an existing musical
work (as opposed to a sound recording) and incorporating it into a new work,” according to the US Copyright Office.
Back in August, George Michael‘s ex Kenny Goss told TMZ that he had heard about the possibility, and said that George would have loved Taylor to use his song.
“Father Figure” is the fourth track on Taylor‘s new album, produced by Max Martin and Shellback, which is set to be released THIS Friday (October 3).
This isn’t the first time Taylor has featured George‘s work in her own.
Back in 2008, Taylor covered his song “Last Christmas,” written by George and performed by his duo Wham!, on her own Christmas album!
