Kimberly has even expressed that had Lorde declined her request, she might have abandoned the entire project, highlighting the song’s integral role in the narrative and emotional impact of the play!

Kimberly took to Instagram to express her profound emotions, stating, “I’ve dedicated seven years to developing John Proctor is the Villain. From the very first draft, the conclusion featured a dance that was always meant to be accompanied by ‘Green Light.’ This play simply would not resonate without that music.”
She elaborated, “To create the art I envisioned, I needed Lorde’s artistic contribution. Her music has repeatedly transformed my spirit and helped me articulate feelings I previously struggled to express. Her artistry has been both a mentor and a companion during both challenging and euphoric times, whether I was listening while wandering city streets, driving along mountain roads, or feeling it deep within my being. Sharing this play with her, witnessing her hands gracefully move in the air as her music filled the Booth Theatre, attempting to express my gratitude directly to her, and experiencing her genuine care for everyone involved in this production—these moments made for a surreal and beautiful night in this extraordinary journey. I will cherish this experience forever,” Kimberly concluded, expressing her love for Lorde and the entire production team.
Lorde responded to Kimberly’s heartfelt message, expressing, “Thank you for choosing me, Kimberly. I will treasure the memories of last night for the rest of my life.”
