Neil Young Embraces European Tour Amidst Personal Concerns
Earlier this year, Neil Young, who holds dual citizenship in both the U.S. and Canada, candidly expressed his anxieties regarding touring in Europe. He voiced concerns about the political climate and its potential implications for his return to the States after performing abroad.
“When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may become one of those who returns to America only to face being barred or imprisoned, forced to sleep on a concrete floor with nothing but an aluminum blanket,” Young stated. “This alarming situation is occurring regularly. Countries now have new policies in place for those returning to America,” he added, highlighting the troubling state of affairs.

Young’s extensive tour will continue to traverse various European cities until mid-July, before transitioning to a North American leg that is set to kick off on August 8. He elaborated on the potential repercussions of his European tour: “If I come back from Europe and face entry denial, all the fans who purchased tickets for my U.S. tour will miss out on seeing me perform live,” he expressed, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. “Indeed, folks, voicing criticism against Trump or his administration could lead to being barred from reentering the U.S. if you’re Canadian. As a dual citizen like myself, who can say what will happen? We will face this uncertainty together.”
