We all know that Bloodborne is one of the greatest games ever made. This makes it all the more frustrating that we only have the one game. While it’s an incredible experience and the DLC remains iconic, it feels like in a fair world we would have at least two Bloodborne sequels by now, right?
Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods certainly looks like a spiritual successor to Bloodborne in all but name, but I need to return to the streets of Yharnam. My life is empty without Bloodborne. I really don’t have a lot going on, guys.
Enter Bloodborne: Magnum Opus
We can always rely on the fans
Fortunately for us, dedicated fans are always on-hand to do what Sony won’t. Bloodborne: Magnum Opus is an absolutely massive overhaul, resulting from thousands of hours of work. Its creator, Abyss1ne, has meticulously examined the game’s files to restore much of the cut content and even include a few surprises.
Magnum Opus primarily addresses some of the smaller issues in Bloodborne caused by various graphical quirks. As such, it focuses on vastly improving the game’s already fantastic lighting, making it feel like a whole new game. But there’s actually more to it than just a graphical refresh.
A newer version of the mod was recently released called Project Beast. This version brings back a ton of scrapped content, including weapons, enemies, items, and Chalice Dungeon levels. It also remixes the vanilla game, placing enemies in new areas to keep players on their toes.
Here’s what the mod’s creator has to say:
“PROJECT BEAST focuses on not only bringing back features and elements of the game that were never released or altogether scrapped during development – enemies, items, weapons, and even Chalice levels; but
the mod also focuses on a new take on the game using prior knowledge and experience from the vanilla version to enhance and surprise players throughout their journey in Yharnam.”
A New Challenge For Bloodborne Fans
It might not be for everyone
The biggest and most important thing to note here is that this is obviously only available for PC gamers. And since Bloodborne still isn’t officially available on PC (thanks, Sony), getting this installed and working is a task not everyone will be up to facing.
With that said, if you are craving Bloodborne, this is definitely one of the best new ways to play the game in 2026.
