Maika Monroe’s Scariest Horror Movies and Where to Watch Now

Maika Monroe has quietly become one of the most impressive horror actresses in Hollywood.

Whether she’s starring in supernatural terrors or psychological thrillers, she’s always up to the challenge and has been known to anchor even the wildest genre films, such as her latest film, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle remake on Hulu.

To celebrate her growing legacy of scares, we’re ranking Maika’s five scariest horror movies. Each one showcases a different side of her talent. We’ve also included where you can watch each one right now!

Keep reading to find out more…

5. Significant Other (Paramount+)

Maika stars alongside Jake Lacy in this eerie thriller that leans more sci-fi than horror. It focuses on a couple on a remote backpacking trip that takes a bizarre and terrifying turn.

If you like psychological horror and aliens, then you’ll appreciate Significant Other. It’s not the actress’ most intense film, but she delivers an unnerving performance and it’s fun to watch reality unravel around the couple.

4. Watcher (Netflix)

Watcher is a top-notch psychological thriller, and a severely underrated one at that. Maika plays a woman who relocates to Bucharest with her boyfriend and slowly becomes convinced that a man living across the street is watching her. It’s deliciously Hitchcockian and very well-acted.

3. The Guest (Shudder)

Before becoming the iconic scream queen we know her as today, Maika co-starred with Dan Stevens in this stylish thriller about a mysterious soldier who ingratiates himself into a grieving family’s life.

Directed by Adam Wingard, The Guest is equal parts action flick and slasher throwback. While it might be less straight horror than her later works, it’s still one of her best and most nerve-wracking films to date.

2. It Follows (HBO Max)

The film that helped Maika claim her crown as a modern-day scream queen. It Follows takes a seemingly simple premise of a supernatural entity that stalks its prey relentlessly, and turns it into a truly original and harrowing horror experience. The way the dread builds throughout the movie is perfectly executed.

A sequel titled They Follow is in the works.

1. Longlegs (Hulu)

Longlegs was one of last year’s most buzziest horror movies, and for a good reason. Featuring Nicolas Cage in one of his most horrific performances yet, Maika plays a troubled FBI agent hunting a serial killer. It’s arguably her darkest and most disturbing movie yet.

Here are 11 of 2025′s best new horror movies you can watch at home right now!
