Frankie Muniz recently shared exciting news on social media, announcing that he has officially completed filming the highly anticipated Malcolm in the Middle revival for Disney+. He expressed that this experience reignited his passion for acting, leading him to feel an eagerness to engage in more creative projects in the near future.
“Just wrapped filming the Malcolm in the Middle reboot, and man, I’m still reeling,” Muniz stated enthusiastically. “This experience was straight-up incredible—like stepping back into Malcolm’s wild world but with all the love and chaos cranked to 11. Reuniting with the cast, getting to know some new characters, laughing till it hurt, and making new memories on set felt like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from. It went by so fast, like a blur of perfect moments. I wish it could go on forever.“
Muniz elaborated further, saying, “I’m so happy to have gotten the chance to relive being on this show with a greater appreciation of what we were making knowing how many people around the world truly love Malcolm and his family. Another big thing I am taking away from this experience is how much I truly love being an actor. I never officially felt like that label fit me, but now I wear that label proudly and hope to do so much more of it in the future. I am so sad to have to say goodbye to my MITM crew, I love each and every one of you.“
The talented actor also mentioned that he has “so many incredible pictures of all the cast” that he wished to share, but unfortunately, Disney wouldn’t permit it, “So imagine a picture of all us together, having the time of our lives!“
The upcoming revival series, consisting of only four episodes, will follow Malcolm (played by Muniz) and his daughter as they navigate the delightful chaos of family life when Hal (portrayed by Bryan Cranston) and Lois (played by Jane Kaczmarek) request Malcolm’s presence for their milestone 40th wedding anniversary celebration. The original creator of Malcolm in the Middle, Linwood Boomer, has returned to write the script for the revival, with the talented director Ken Kwapis set to direct all four episodes.
Original cast members Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield reprise their roles as Malcolm’s brothers, Francis and Reese, respectively. However, due to Erik Per Sullivan‘s departure from acting, he will not return to portray Dewey. Instead, Caleb Ellsworth-Clark has been cast in the role. Additionally, Anthony Timpano will play Jamie, the youngest brother who was seen as a baby and toddler during the latter part of the original series. Vaughan Murrae takes on the role of Kelly, the baby that Lois was pregnant with during the series finale, characterized as “self-sufficient” and “already wiser than most of the family.“
In addition, Kiana Madeira will portray Tristan, Malcolm’s girlfriend, and Keeley Karsten will play Leah, Malcolm’s daughter. Leah is described as having “the same sarcastic humor, same impulsiveness, and the same frighteningly high intelligence” as her father, but is also “far more sensitive and emotional.“
