The highly anticipated kickoff of Marilyn Manson’s European tour, initially set to launch in October at the Brighton Centre in Brighton, England, has been abruptly canceled. This decision followed substantial pressure exerted by online activists and a local member of parliament, reflecting growing concerns regarding the artist’s past.
On October 29, Manson was scheduled to commence the European leg of his One Assassination Under God Tour. However, the show has now been officially scrapped. Ticketmaster has reached out to customers to confirm that all purchased tickets will be refunded in light of this cancellation.
The advocacy group No Stage for Abusers, which describes itself as a campaign aimed at preventing abusive individuals from receiving a platform to perform, urged the Brighton venue and its owners, the Brighton and Hove City Council, to take action against Manson’s performance due to his troubling history of sexual assault allegations.
Multiple Women Accuse Marilyn Manson of Serious Abuse and Sexual Assault
In 2021, the actress and Manson’s former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood publicly accused the musician of serious abuse, stating that he “started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years.” She described how this experience left her “brainwashed and manipulated into submission.” Following her allegations, several other women came forward with their own accusations of abuse and sexual assault, prompting a thorough criminal investigation into Manson’s conduct.

Manson, whose legal name is Brian Warner, denied all allegations during this tumultuous period, labeling them as “part of a coordinated attack by former partners” who have “weaponized the otherwise mundane details of his personal life.” Despite these denials, the situation has cast a significant shadow over his career.
In January, Los Angeles prosecutors ultimately decided to drop the case against him, citing that the domestic violence allegations had surpassed the statute of limitations and that the sexual assault charges could not be substantiated beyond a reasonable doubt. Despite these legal challenges, Manson managed to continue performing, releasing his latest album, One Assassination Under God — Chapter 1, in 2024, indicating his resilience in the face of controversy.
No Stage for Abusers Issues Statement on Show Cancellation
Responding to the cancellation of Manson’s Brighton show, No Stage for Abusers posted a statement on Facebook early Sunday morning, emphasizing the importance of accountability for acts of violent misogyny. They asserted, “Being held accountable for violent misogyny is not cancel culture. It is the correct outcome for an issue that has plagued the music industry for a long time.”
They further noted that discussions around Manson and his fans often neglect the extensive history of sexist and abusive comments he has made, which also contribute to the rationale behind opposing his tour. This highlights the need for a critical examination of artists and their behaviors.

The organization continued their stance by stating: “The notion that ‘controversial rock stars’ should be allowed to say and do whatever they please without facing consequences is both ridiculous and lazy. It disregards the harmful impact their actions can have on society.” They praised the Brighton & Hove Council and the Brighton Centre for setting a strong precedent and expressed hope that other venues would follow suit in addressing misogyny and male violence against women and girls.
