Meghan Markle Contacted Estranged Father Thomas After Amputation

Meghan Markle has reached out to her estranged father Thomas Markle amid his medical emergency.

Earlier this week, the 44-year-old Duchess of Sussex’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr. revealed that their father, 81, underwent emergency surgery to have his left leg amputated and is currently in intensive care.

Following the news, a spokesperson for Meghan confirmed on Friday (December 5) that she recently reached out to her father.

While the spokesperson didn’t share any further details, a source noted that the outreach from Meghan is very recent as Thomas just had the emergency surgery on Wednesday, December 3 in the Philippines, where he and Thomas Jr., 59, relocated to earlier this year.

While speaking to The Daily Mail, Thomas Jr. described his father’s emergency procedure as “life or death,” saying Thomas‘ foot had turned “blue then black” before doctors determined amputation was necessary.

Thomas Jr. also said that his father remains in an intensive care ward and that “the next two or three days are critical” as doctors monitor for possible infection.

If you didn’t know, Meghan has been estranged from her father since her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry after he admitted that he staged paparazzi photos with a British tabloid and lied to her about speaking to the press.
