Melissa Roxburgh Discusses Potential Tracker Return with Jensen Ackles

Melissa Roxburgh recently shared whether she intends to return to Tracker in the future, especially now that Jensen Ackles has rejoined the CBS drama.

Tracker marks Justin Hartley’s first series regular role since This Is Us concluded in 2022 after six seasons. He portrays a survivalist named Colter Shaw, with Roxburgh as his sister, Dory Shaw, and Ackles as their brother, Russell Shaw.

So far, Roxburgh has only appeared in two episodes of Tracker, and it seems there are currently no plans for her to return.

In an interview with ScreenRant‘s Grant Hermanns regarding The Hunting Party season 2, the actress expressed that it would be “so great” to guest star on Tracker again, as Dory is a “fun” character to portray and she enjoys the dynamics among the Shaw siblings.

She has her “fingers crossed” that the producers and writers will find a way to incorporate her back into the show. Roxburgh also mentioned that she wants to ask Hartley, who is also an executive producer on Tracker, about what lies ahead for Dory since she is unsure of “where their storylines are taking them at the moment“.

I hope so. I don’t know where their storylines are taking them at the moment, but it would obviously be so great to be back on that show. Dory’s fun, and I think that the dynamic of the siblings is such an interesting storyline to tap into. So, fingers crossed. I’ll have to ask Justin about that one.

The cast of Tracker also features Robin Weingert, Abby McEnany, Eric Graise, and Fiona Rene.

Roxburgh and Ackles made their Tracker debuts in consecutive episodes that aired in May 2024. Colter contacted Dory, who is a professor, after he began investigating a student’s disappearance from her university.

The following week, Russell appeared when he needed Colter to search for a military friend who had gone missing. The reunion was not a joyful one since the two brothers were estranged.

Ackles returned for three additional episodes, including the premiere of Tracker season 3.

Roxburgh made a brief appearance in the second season when Dory handed Colter a box belonging to their father. While going through the items, Colter found a phone number that turned out to be disconnected.

However, during the finale, Colter discovered much more than he expected when it was revealed that his mother was behind his father’s death.

Unfortunately, Roxburgh has limited time for the CBS series these days as she is now starring as an FBI agent on the NBC drama The Hunting Party, which premiered in 2025, several months after her initial appearance on Tracker.

It’s possible that her season 2 appearance could have been more substantial if she weren’t leading another show.

After starring in the supernatural drama Manifest from 2018 to 2023, Roxburgh returned to television in an episode of Quantum Leap, before guest-starring on Tracker, and subsequently landing her next series regular role on The Hunting Party.

While the NBC drama keeps her busy, fans would love to see Dory return to Tracker. Although there are currently no plans for this, it’s possible that producers and writers could develop a new storyline for her that allows her to appear without interfering with her commitments on The Hunting Party.

The Hunting Party airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST on NBC, while Tracker season 3 returns Sunday, March 1 at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
