Metallica Fans Confused by Funko Pop Mix-Up on South Park

What Happened to the Robert Trujillo Funko Pop!?

This week, fans began sharing photos of their new Robert Trujillo collectible in various online forums dedicated to Metallica. While the figure matched the advertisement, the packaging was somewhat surprising.

Several individuals who purchased the Funko Pop! shared images of the Trujillo figure inside a box that displayed images and text for Jimmy Valmer. The animated character, who has a physical disability, was first introduced on South Park in 2001.

Multiple posters have stated they placed their orders through Amazon.

“I honestly thought it was funny,” Josh Reubenking commented in a Facebook group dedicated to Metallica’s current tour. “Amazon let me keep it and I have a replacement coming soon. (Hopefully correctly packaged).”

Others found humor in the situation.

“Don’t worry about that,” one user remarked. “That’s just Jimmy from another timeline.”

What Might Have Caused the Robert Trujillo Funko Mix-Up?

Based on some comments on social media, Metallica fans are experiencing a range of outcomes regarding how (or even if) their Funko Pop! of Trujillo arrived.

In addition to those who received the collectible in the incorrect box, there are also fans who received the Trujillo figure in the correct packaging. Furthermore, it seems that other buyers who ordered a version of each of the four band members received all except for Trujillo when their shipping box arrived.

Another user in the comments mentioned that his Lars Ulrich figure arrived without a box at all. Others are reporting that the figures are now backordered.

“I haven’t received my Funkos. They have been on backorder since September and they can’t send me any of them (I ordered) from Amazon.”

Loudwire has reached out to Funko for comment but did not receive a response by the time of publication.

The Funko Pop! for Trujillo is currently available through the Funko store on Amazon for $25.99.
