Metallica are nearing the completion of a residency deal at the Las Vegas Sphere, according to a report by The Sun.
A source based in Las Vegas reportedly informed the publication that the band has been finalizing the details for a residency at the iconic venue in 2027 and is approximately 90 percent finished with the agreement. The contracts have yet to be signed.
“Metallica having a residency at the Sphere is all anyone is talking about on the [Las Vgeas] Strip,” claimed the source. “They have met with the management and discussed plans with the technical team for a potential show.”
U2, Phish, Dead & Company, and The Eagles have all held residencies at the Sphere, making Metallica the first metal band to host their own series of shows there. According to The Sun’s source, Metallica’s performance will be distinct from others.
What Have Metallica Said About a Residency at the Sphere?
Speculation about Metallica’s residency at the Sphere began last summer when Vital Vegas published an article on the topic. At that time, it was suggested that the residency could commence in the fall of 2026.
Lars Ulrich addressed these rumors during an appearance on the Howard Stern Show, where he discussed their new SiriusXM channel, Maximum Metallica.
“I’m not going to confirm anything because there’s nothing to confirm,” said the drummer regarding the speculation.
“But I’m not going to deny it, because we’re all such fans of this venue. Our managers and production team have visited and assessed it. It’s something we’re considering; however, nothing is finalized or approved. We are looking into it for after our 2026 tour concludes.”
