“I am immensely proud of Cody. It requires incredible bravery to surrender to treatment and seek help, and my admiration for him is boundless,” she continued. “As many of you have observed over the past few months, Cody has been noticeably absent from my life, and now you understand why.”
In her candid update, Mikayla shared that Cody faced a relapse involving drugs in January 2024 and began drinking again shortly after in April of the same year.
“The year 2024 brought some of the most terrifying nights of my existence,” she recounted. “I’m talking about moments where I had to call the police because I feared for my husband’s life.”
She further disclosed that she experienced a significant mental health crisis in December and revealed that they had been living apart for a while.
“Watching his addiction spiral out of control was heartbreaking, and it created an unbearable atmosphere in our home,” Mikayla explained, adding, “I ultimately had to make the painful choice to ask Cody to leave our home, and he eventually found his own apartment.”
Mikayla expressed that Cody had “hit rock bottom,” and out of fear of losing him, she secretly took one of the keys to his apartment, “because I was terrified that if he overdosed or harmed himself, I wouldn’t have a way to get inside.”
Just last month, Mikayla shared that Cody reached out to her with the decision to seek help.
“He said, ‘I’m done and I’m going to rehab,’” she recalled. “The transition from sleepless nights filled with worry about my husband to knowing that over the last month and a half, he’s been in a secure environment, receiving treatment, and working towards his path to sobriety is indescribable.”
Mikayla emphasized her unwavering support for Cody during this challenging time, stating she will stand by him for however long he needs to remain in rehab and will be “waiting for him with open arms.”
The couple, who have been a part of each other’s lives for several years, have shared significant milestones on social media, including their move into a new home following Mikayla’s TikTok success.
They celebrated their marriage in July 2023, surrounded by friends and family, including several well-known influencers.
