Military Draft Restoration Urged by Rob Schneider for Youth

Actor and comedian Rob Schneider has called for the United States to restore the military draft for the country’s young people. Amidst the ongoing conflict with Iran, Schneider wrote a lengthy post from his X account. The post states that every young person should serve two years of military service. Interestingly, Schneider has never been in the army.

Rob Schneider says the US ‘must restore the military draft’

Rob Schneider, who garnered attention for his controversial comments in the past, recently posted a lengthy post on X, where he called for the US to start the military draft for young people again. The United States called its last military draft on December 7, 1972, amidst the ongoing Vietnam War.

Perhaps Schneider spoke about the draft in response to the ongoing conflict with Iran. However, it has not seen a solution yet.

“Each and every American, at eighteen years of age, must serve two years of military service,” Schneider wrote in the post that has accumulated quite a backlash online. “They could also choose to serve part of that time overseas or in-country in a volunteer capacity. Being a citizen of the United States gives us unparalleled Freedoms and opportunities that are the envy of the world. However, these Freedoms that we cherish do not come without a cost.”

“By protecting and preserving these Freedoms, young people, regardless of race, creed, or religion, will be united in service to their country and just as importantly, to each other. Many Nations around the world require their young citizens to serve their country. Until recently, our Nation did as well,” continued the comedian who never served in the army himself.

He continued to describe how this would help young people. “We would have all of our young men and women put into a rigorous physical training course that they could use for the rest of their lives,” he stated before adding that “unlike in today’s Universities, our young people will learn how truly great their country is and how unique and incredible are the Freedoms that this Nation bestows upon them.”

To the young people of America, this is your country and your future,” he added at the end. “We will leave this great and Free Nation in your good hands for your children and for your children’s children. God Bless the United States of America!”

While some agreed with the 62-year-old in the comments. However, others were less than pleased with the take, especially with his background of no army service.
