Mixing Console from Dr. Dre Fetches High Price at Auction

The legendary mixing console of Dr. Dre, a pivotal tool in creating iconic records for N.W.A., Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar, has just been sold at a remarkable auction.

This renowned SSL 4000 G+ mixing console fetched an astonishing price of $165,000, setting a new benchmark for Hip Hop memorabilia. This amount significantly surpassed the previous record of $69,000 paid for RZA’s drum machine featured in the classic album Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers).

The console found its new owner in Ryan Zurrer, who expressed his excitement on social media, stating: “I’m incredibly grateful to have acquired the signature instrument that Dr. Dre meticulously perfected over the years… it’s the essence of the old school, teaching us all how to enjoy life… still DRE. This remarkable artifact of Hip Hop history will be showcased at the Hip Hop Museum because it ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none.”

Currently, Dre’s console is proudly displayed at the Grammy Museum, but there are exciting plans to transfer it to the upcoming Hip Hop Museum opening in New York next year, where fans can appreciate its historical significance.

The auction featured a plethora of West Coast Hip Hop memorabilia, including original handwritten lyric sheets from Snoop Dogg, various gold and platinum plaques belonging to DJ Yella, and even Xzibit’s script for the film XXX: The Next Level, showcasing the rich tapestry of Hip Hop culture.

In another exciting event, Kid Cudi recently generated an impressive sum by auctioning off some exclusive items he owned.

The total proceeds from this auction reached an astonishing $857,439, with the standout sale being a custom Jacob & Co 14-karat N.E.R.D. pendant, originally commissioned by Pharrell in 2005.

Cudi had previously purchased this piece at another auction but chose to resell it, with the winning bid soaring to 3,750—more than double its initial estimate.

A unique Ben Baller x Takashi Murakami x Kid Cudi chain also attracted attention, fetching $187,500, which was slightly below its $200,000 guide price.

Among the notable items auctioned was a pair of Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 Low sneakers designed by the visionary Virgil Abloh, which sold for $82,500.

The Lonely Stoner also parted with a stunning Ben Baller chain, intricately depicting him in 18-karat gold, adorned with diamonds, sapphires, and rubies, which was auctioned for $43,750.

Additionally, fans with a keen eye and deep pockets had the opportunity to acquire Cudi’s rare collection of vintage music T-shirts, featuring original pieces from legendary artists such as Eminem, Michael Jackson, and Nirvana.
