Describing our relationship with Samira Nasr’s Harper’s Bazaar as love/hate would be an understatement of epic proportions. However, whenever Nasr (who became editor-in-chief in 2020) features models on the cover of this Hearst-owned fashion title, we find ourselves feeling conflicted. Here at theFashionSpot, we have praised covers featuring icons like Anok Yai, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Lauren Hutton, and Liu Wen. The latest model to grace the cover of Harper’s Bazaar is Mona Tougaard, who appears on the October 2025 edition of the magazine. Photographed by Luis Alberto Rodriguez and styled by Carlos Nazario, the Danish beauty showcases a jacket, shirt, and trousers from Michael Rider’s debut Celine collection.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“A model for a big US cover! Where do I sign,” exclaimed BalkaniStaCouture as soon as the cover was revealed.
“I am obsessed with this new Harper’s Bazaar cover. Mona looks absolutely incredible! I love her hair, makeup, outfit, and all the colors – from the masthead down to her pants. I will definitely be getting a newsstand copy,” declared MModa.
Forum member likeahurricane remarked: “I appreciate the spirit behind this even if the execution is lacking!”
“I’m all for seeing models on the covers of mainstream fashion titles; I’m very much here for this. Mona looks fantastic and is serving… something. I adore her long hair and Carlos Nazario’s styling; everything feels classic. It may not break new ground but doesn’t promise to either. I’m a fan!” expressed vogue28.
However, not everyone shared this enthusiasm. “Thankfully, Mona is the only thing that can salvage this chaotic shoot. What exactly was the concept here? The hair and makeup are lovely though,” critiqued RMDV.
