Morrissey is starting 2026 in the same manner he concluded 2025: by canceling concerts.
The former Smiths singer and long-time solo artist has postponed his first show of the year, which was scheduled for Saturday night in Rancho Mirage, California.
In announcing the news, the venue (Aqua Caliente) cited “an adverse reaction to a prescription medicine” as the reason. This was already a rescheduled date, as the show was previously postponed from its original date of October 24, 2025.
Morrissey’s planned concert on January 6 in San Diego has also been canceled, along with a previously announced date on January 25 in the Dominican Republic. The reasons for these two cancellations have not been disclosed.

Morrissey has canceled numerous concerts throughout his career for various reasons, leading the WeHeartM website to create a detailed page tracking them all. Currently, the site lists 402 canceled shows, postponed dates, and abbreviated performances.
According to their calculations, in addition to the two canceled shows in 2026, Morrissey canceled 32 out of 63 planned dates in 2025 and 9 out of 23 planned concerts in 2024. This totals 43 canceled shows out of 88.
A comparison of the site’s data for 2023 with reports from SetList.fm regarding his last 12 shows for that year indicates that six occurred while six were canceled.
This means Morrissey has canceled 49 out of his last 100 scheduled shows, citing reasons such as extreme exhaustion, lack of label support, band member injuries, a severe sinusitis attack, and technical issues.
As noted by Stereogum, Morrissey’s next show is set for January 10 in San Antonio. This is also a rescheduled date since the concert was postponed from May 8, 2025. They further mention that the singer hasn’t performed in the city for 15 years, as his planned concerts in 2016 and 2017 were… to say it all together… postponed then canceled.
