The release date of Mortal Kombat II has officially been postponed, with Warner Bros. announcing that the film has been removed from the 2025 schedule entirely.

According to Warner Bros. Pictures, the film’s new release date is now set for May 15, 2026. This change represents a significant delay, moving the film out of 2025 and into the majority of the first quarter of 2026.
The announcement was made alongside a new poster featuring Kung Lao’s (Max Huang) hat, with a message indicating that the “tournament demands a new time and place.” Below is the new poster for Mortal Kombat II:
Mortal Kombat II is directed by Simon McQuoid and features a screenplay by Jeremy Slater. The film serves as a sequel to the 2021 film Mortal Kombat and stars Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, along with deline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, with Chin Han and Tadanobu Asano portraying Lord Raiden; Joe Taslim as Bi-Han; and Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion.
