Motley Crue’s Absence from Ozzy Osbourne’s Final Show

Nikki Sixx, the iconic bassist of Mötley Crüe, has shed light on the band’s absence from Ozzy Osbourne‘s farewell concert, despite the significant influence Osbourne had on their early career. In a recent interaction on X, a fan inquired whether the band was invited to perform at the star-studded event named Back to the Beginning, which took place on Saturday. Sixx responded candidly, stating, “We have been having health issues within the band,” highlighting the ongoing challenges they are facing.

While Sixx did not disclose specific details about which band member or members are experiencing health challenges, it’s worth noting that earlier in March, the band made a significant announcement regarding their planned Spring Las Vegas residency. They decided to postpone this highly anticipated event until September 2025 to give lead singer Vince Neil adequate time to recuperate from a necessary medical procedure, the specifics of which were not revealed. This decision reflects the band’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of its members.

In addition, Mötley Crüe also withdrew from a scheduled performance at the Boardwalk Rock Festival in Ocean City, Maryland, originally set for May 17, for the same health-related reasons. The band’s Las Vegas residency is now slated to kick off on September 12 at Park MGM’s Dolby Live, generating much anticipation among fans eager to see them perform live.

Earlier this week, Sixx took a moment to congratulate Osbourne on the remarkable success of the Back to the Beginning show, expressing gratitude for the pivotal role Osbourne played in helping Mötley Crüe reach the heights of stardom. In his heartfelt message, Sixx reminisced about the early days, stating, “Ozzy and Sharon gave us our first real big tour in 1984 on the ‘Shout at the Devil’ tour.” He emphasized how performing in front of Osbourne marked a turning point for the band, saying, “They gave us the opportunity to play in front of Ozzy and actually, in my opinion, broke the band.” He concluded with praise for Osbourne’s illustrious career, stating, “Congratulations on an amazing career and what a bad-ass send off.”
