According to reports from PEOPLE, Ananda Lewis tragically passed away at the age of 52 after enduring a prolonged battle with breast cancer. On June 11, an account believed to belong to her sister, Lakshmi, shared the heartbreaking news through a heartfelt Facebook post.

In her poignant tribute, Ananda’s sister posted a touching black-and-white photograph accompanied by the caption, “She’s free, and in His heavenly arms. Lord, rest her soul” 

Ananda Lewis’s journey with cancer began when she publicly revealed her Stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis through an emotional Instagram post in October 2020. In that heartfelt video, she candidly expressed the challenges of sharing her diagnosis, noting how difficult it was to confront such a serious health issue. She had been courageously battling cancer for nearly two years, stating that she was “fighting to get it out of her body for almost two years.”

As reported by PEOPLE, Ananda Lewis achieved significant recognition in the entertainment industry in 1997 when she joined MTV, where she hosted iconic shows like ‘Total Request Live’ and ‘Hot Zone’. In 2023, the New York Post reported Ananda’s reflections on the closure of MTV News after 36 years, where she reminisced about her impactful experiences with the network.
