VMAs 2025: Ashlee Simpson Reveals Advice from Mother-in-Law Diana Ross on Returning to Stage

Jessica Simpson is making a public appearance.

The “With You” singer arrived at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards on September 7 in a stunning black lace outfit with cutouts around her chest, marking her first appearance at the ceremony since 2006.

To complete her look for this rare outing, Jessica styled her hair in a sleek ponytail and accessorized with bold chain-link earrings. (See every star on the VMAs red carpet here.)

Jessica, who attended with her sister Ashlee Simpson, is set to present during the award show, hosted by LL Cool J at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

As the two-time VMA nominee teased in a September 2 Instagram post, “Back to where it all began!”

While Jessica had previously stepped back from music, she made a compelling return in March with her EP Nashville Canyon, Part 1.

Just days before her VMAs appearance, Jessica released Nashville Canyon: Pt 2.

“This continuation of Nashville Canyon: Pt 1 is my heart laid bare,” she shared on Instagram September 5. “It’s about healing, honesty, and finding strength in vulnerability.”
