book, MURDLE VOLUME 1: 100 ELEMENTARY TO IMPOSSIBLE MYSTERIES TO SOLVE USING LOGIC, SKILL, AND THE POWER OF DEDUCTION by G.T. Karber

This summer, I have been thoroughly enjoying Murdle, an engaging puzzle book that has captivated my interest. It’s a fantastic way to challenge my mind while having fun. The book features a collection of intriguing puzzles that encourage logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Initially, I purchased this book for my father, who instilled in me a love for Sudoku and other brain teasers. After he gave it a glowing review, I decided to grab a copy for myself. The puzzles are designed to be short and manageable; early on, they take only a minute or two to solve, while the more challenging puzzles towards the end can take 10 to 15 minutes, providing a perfect mix of challenge and enjoyment.

You might be curious about the nature of the puzzles. Each one revolves around a rather simplistic murder mystery, complete with a selection of suspects, various weapons, multiple locations, and differing motives. The format involves presenting a series of clues, such as, “the individual who wielded the bloody knife also had blue eyes.” As you progress, you will encounter three truths and a lie; the individual who tells the lie is identified as the murderer. This requires a degree of deduction and elimination akin to the logic games found on the LSAT, although I’ve heard that section has recently been removed from the test!

Overall, I have found great pleasure in working my way through this book. I enjoy it so much that I would consider taking it along on any beach vacation we plan. The book is available for less than $10 from Amazon and various other booksellers, making it an affordable option for puzzle enthusiasts.

Readers, I would love to hear about your favorite puzzle books and logic games! What do you enjoy solving in your free time?
