Lionsgate has announced the new release date for Mutiny, an action movie starring Jason Statham.
What is the release date for Jason Statham’s Mutiny?
According to Deadline, Mutiny is now scheduled for theaters on August 21, 2026.
Mutiny was originally set to be released on January 9, 2026. In August 2025, Lionsgate postponed Mutiny to the summer of 2026. The slot for the January 9 release date will now be filled by Greenland 2: Migration, a sequel to the Gerard Butler-led 2020 disaster thriller.
Mutiny now shares an August release date with the untitled Insidious sequel.
In Mutiny, Statham plays Cole Reed, who, after witnessing his billionaire boss’ murder and being framed for the crime, boards a cargo ship on a one-man crusade to avenge his boss’s death, only to uncover an international conspiracy.
Mutiny also features Annabelle Wallis, Roland Møller, Ramon Tikaram, Arnas Fedaravičius, Jason Wong, and Adrian Lester.
Jean-François Richet directs Mutiny, based on a screenplay by Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis. Producers include Marc Butan and Statham.
Richet’s previous film, Plane, starred Gerard Butler as a commercial pilot who crash-lands in hostile territory and must save his passengers from insurgents. Released in January 2023, Plane grossed $74 million on a $25 million budget.
Statham remains one of Hollywood’s most recognizable action stars. In 2024, he starred in The Beekeeper, an action thriller directed by David Ayer. Statham portrayed Adam Clay, a former government assassin who comes out of retirement to avenge the death of his friend (Phylicia Rashad) after she took her own life following a phishing scam. The Beekeeper grossed $162 million worldwide and led to a sequel, The Beekeeper 2, which is currently in production.
In 2025, Statham starred in another Ayer-directed action movie titled A Working Man, about a construction worker searching for the human traffickers who kidnapped his boss’s daughter. Released in March 2025, it grossed $98 million on a $40 million budget.
Statham’s next movie is Shelter, an action thriller directed by Ric Roman Waugh. Shelter is set for release on January 30, 2026.
