My Hero Academia revolves around a society with superpowers, highlighting a fierce conflict between justice and evil. This is why My Hero Academia features a diverse array of formidable villains. While the antagonists are significant for their strength, some villains are so powerful that they defy easy ranking by fans.
The quirks in My Hero Academia play a crucial role in identifying the strongest villains in the anime, along with the creative and innovative ways they utilize their abilities. Whether it’s their physical prowess, having reached their peak power, or possessing a quirk that renders them nearly invincible, several villains from My Hero Academia warrant consideration as the strongest.
Mr. Compress
As his villain name indicates, Mr. Compress possesses the ability to compress objects to the size of a small marble. He can apply his Quirk to various objects and individuals, as demonstrated when the League of Villains abducted Bakugo and Tokoyami. The most perilous aspect of Mr. Compress is his ability to compress specific body parts.
Although this process is painless, Mr. Compress can effectively mutilate anyone with just a touch, as evidenced when he severed Overhaul’s arms in exchange for losing his own limb while avenging Magne’s death. Unfortunately, Mr. Compress remains the least developed member of the League of Villains and has not had the chance to fully showcase his powers.
Spinner
Spinner was one of the members of the League of Villains, remaining in the shadows for much of the story due to not having a flashy quirk or remarkable physical strength. He became a swordsman after attempting to mimic Stain’s fighting style, although he did not achieve his level of skill.
Despite being a relatively weak villain, Spinner grew larger and stronger thanks to All for One, gaining high resistance as his scales function as armor. Unfortunately, Spinner’s mental state deteriorated due to the quirks. Had he maintained the effects of his quirk, he could have fought more effectively.
Kurogiri
Kurogiri serves as the second-in-command of the League of Villains, responsible for protecting Shigaraki under All For One’s orders. His body consists of dark mist, which he utilizes as a portal to transport himself and others to any location he designates.
Kurogiri’s warp ability is formidable since he can make enemies vanish by relocating them elsewhere. He even redirected Thirteen’s Black Hole Quirk and is nearly intangible, rendering him immune to physical attacks. Regrettably, Kurogiri has not had many chances throughout My Hero Academia‘s narrative to demonstrate his combat abilities.
Gentle Criminal
Despite not being strictly a villain, Gentle Criminal was the primary antagonist during the U.A. School Festival Arc. His Elasticity quirk can be utilized in various ways, such as propelling himself into the air like a trampoline and creating elastic barriers to blow away opponents.
While Gentle performed remarkable feats like catching the falling U.A. building in My Hero Academia‘s Final War Arc, this was made possible due to La Brava’s quirk power boost. Nevertheless, Gentle never truly fought with all his might since he restrained himself from harming Deku, indicating he lacks lethal intent compared to genuine villains.
Stain
Stain’s quirk, “bloodcurdle,” immobilizes opponents after they ingest his blood. The duration of immobilization varies based on blood type but can last several minutes if his enemy shares his type. By combining agility with his quirks, Stain has defeated numerous professional heroes, including Ingenium.
However, Stain’s inherent weakness lies in the difficulty of ingesting an opponent’s blood during combat, especially against those with long-range attacks. Even when facing three opponents simultaneously, Stain was defeated by Midoriya, Shoto, and Ida despite their inexperience as heroes.
Muscular
Although Muscular appeared early in the series, he is a notably strong villain. Muscular was capable of enduring Deku’s full-strength blows at 100%, an impressive feat even if Deku did not utilize One for All’s complete power at that moment.
Muscular’s durability is remarkable along with his brutality—he possesses the ability to defeat enemies instantly with a single punch. However, Muscular struggles against strategic opponents and can quickly lose if caught off guard before using his quirk defensively.
Lady Nagant
Despite being classified as a hero, Lady Nagant temporarily acted as a villain under All For One’s orders to eliminate Deku. Her quirk enables her arm to function as a rifle and her hair as bullets, making her an exceptionally deadly opponent due to her extraordinary shooting skills.
Lady Nagant also received “Air Walk,” enhancing her maneuverability in battle and allowing her to match Deku’s speed. However, despite her bullets’ high penetration and destructive capability, she struggles against foes with high resistance.
Hood
Hood represents a unique type of high-end Nomu created by Kyudai Garaki and stands out as one of the strongest due to retaining intelligence despite multiple quirks being infused into him. Hood’s tactical capabilities in battle combined with exceptional regeneration make him an ideal man-made weapon.
The strength of Hood is evident from how both Hawks and Endeavor found it challenging to defeat him despite their top-tier hero status. Hood even matched Hawks’ speed—one of the fastest heroes—while only being vulnerable to attacks that exceed his regenerative abilities such as Endeavor’s prominence burn.
Overhaul
Overhaul may be considered one of My Hero Academia‘s most despicable villains. Kai Chisaki’s quirk “Overhaul,” allows him to disassemble and reassemble any substance at will. His high intellect concerning materials and human anatomy enables him to maximize his quirk’s potential—he can even heal wounds or eliminate anyone with just one touch.
This immense potential made Overhaul one of All For One’s potential vessels. However, despite his overwhelmingly powerful quirk that can kill almost anyone instantly, Overhaul must make physical contact with them—making him vulnerable against faster enemies who can evade him.
Re-Destro
Re-Destro stands out among My Hero Academia‘s most underrated villains. His “stress” quirk enhances physical capabilities—the more stress he accumulates, the more power he can unleash. Alongside incredible raw strength, Re-Destro exhibits agility but ultimately lost against Shigaraki due to decay’s overwhelming power.
Edgeshot defeated Re-Destro after he lost his legs and subsequently weakened due to diminished stress levels. The downside of Re-Destro’s quirk is that it requires time to build up stress for peak performance while becoming weaker as it dissipates—making him ill-suited against enemies who keep their distance.
