Mythic Quest, the acclaimed series on Apple TV+ co-created by It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day, has officially announced its cancellation after a successful fourth season. Although this marks the end of the series, the creators are committed to providing loyal fans with an exciting surprise that will deliver the kind of send-off the show truly deserves, ensuring its legacy continues in the hearts of its audience.

The fourth season of Mythic Quest wrapped up just last month, but the finale titled “Heaven and Hell” was originally not intended to serve as a true series finale. In response to fan anticipation, a reimagined version is scheduled to air this week, designed to offer a more definitive and satisfying closure to the narrative, giving viewers a proper goodbye.

A heartfelt statement was released by Rob McElhenney, Mythic Quest co-creator Megan Ganz, and executive producer and co-star David Hornsby. They expressed, “Endings are hard. But after four incredible seasons, Mythic Quest is coming to a close. We’re so proud of the show and the world we got to build — and deeply grateful to every cast and crew member who poured their heart into it. To all our fans, thank you for playing with us. To our partners at Apple, thank you for believing in the vision from the very beginning. Because endings are hard, with Apple’s blessing we made one final update to our last episode — so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over.”

Despite the lack of extensive advertising for Apple TV+ shows, it’s always a pleasant surprise to discover the high-quality content available on the platform. Mythic Quest stands out as a prime example, consistently garnering strong reviews and appreciation from fans and critics alike. The network has shown unwavering support for the series, demonstrating confidence in its potential by renewing it for two additional seasons following a successful second season, which ultimately turned out to be the final two seasons of the show.

Featuring a talented cast that includes Rob McElhenney, Ashly Burch, Jesse Ennis, Imani Hakim, Danny Pudi, and F. Murray Abraham (who appeared in the first two seasons), Mythic Quest has made a significant impact on its audience. Additionally, a spin-off miniseries titled Side Quest launched on the same day as the series finale, providing fans with even more content to enjoy and explore.

Were you a fan of Mythic Quest? Do you believe the series could have maintained its momentum and appeal if it had been extended for a few more seasons, or do you think it reached a natural conclusion?
