The talented American Idol judge recently made a bold choice to switch her signature golden locks for a more natural brownish blonde hairstyle on August 4. This change marks a momentous occasion as it is the first time in three decades that she has embraced this particular hair color.
“Honestly, the last time I truly saw my natural hair color was when I was around 12 years old,” Carrie shared on Instagram, alongside images showcasing her beautiful new look. “I thought it might be time to give it a second chance,” she added, reflecting on her journey of self-acceptance.
Expressing her gratitude, she thanked Nashville-based colorist Katelin August for “helping me get back to my roots.” The 42-year-old singer playfully concluded her post with the hashtag “#NewOldMe,” signifying her fresh start and newfound confidence.
Indeed, Carrie has taken her time to experiment with her appearance. As she mentioned in an interview with Refinery 29 back in 2012, “I’d love to explore different hair colors. I’ve always been blonde! The challenge is that I don’t want to shock my fans—if I dyed my hair brown, I don’t want people jumping to conclusions that I’m turning dark and serious,” highlighting her thoughtful approach to personal styling.
