?The plane hit the water, and there was an explosion. A lot of black plumes, and then it just like got sucked into the water. Within 15 seconds, there was nothing,? recounted a witness to CBS 8 San Diego.

According to the latest updates, the Navy confirmed that two pilots were aboard the fighter jet at the time of the incident. Both pilots successfully ejected from the aircraft just moments before the jet experienced what was described as ?a mechanical failure.?

?Moments later, the aircraft crashed into the bay. The Premier, which was in the immediate vicinity, swiftly responded to the emergency,? reported H&M Landing, the fishing company that played a crucial role in rescuing the pilots from the water. The general manager, Frank Ursitti, expressed gratitude for having their vessel in the right place at the right time.

The pilots were subsequently transferred to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Air and Marine Operations and later taken to the University of California San Diego Hillcrest Medical Center for evaluation. Fortunately, they are reported to be in stable condition.
