The 3-year-old Gerard Butler neo-noir thriller from Netflix is making a comeback after being removed from the streaming service. Known for his high-octane action films, Butler has starred in notable titles such as the 300 series and Den of Thieves, earning critical acclaim for his performances.
One of these films is 2021’s Copshop, which follows hitman Bob Viddick (Butler) as he gets caught up in a conflict with con artist Teddy Murretto (Frank Grillo) and rookie police officer Val Young (Alexis Louder). Although it was previously available on Netflix, it has since been taken off the platform. That is, until now.
Netflix has confirmed that Copshop will return to Netflix in the US starting on February 1, 2026. This confirmation brings the film back to its original streaming home and introduces a new Butler film for viewers to enjoy. The movie’s return coincides with Butler’s latest theatrical release, Greenland 2: Migration, which recently hit theaters.
Copshop has received positive reviews, currently holding a Certified Fresh score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. The consensus indicates that the film meets expectations for a Butler-led action movie. While it may not be groundbreaking, it provides an entertaining experience that offsets any predictability in the plot. All three lead actors are highlighted for their standout performances.
The film was directed and co-written by Joe Carnahan, who also directed Netflix’s The Rip, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Co-writer Kurt McLeod collaborated with Ozark creator Mark Williams on the story. Elements from these works resonate in Copshop, blending thrilling action with memorable character moments.
As of now, Copshop is only accessible on Prime Video in the US or available for rent on various VOD platforms. Although it can currently be streamed, its return to Netflix will expand its audience significantly, potentially revitalizing interest in this film as a key part of Butler’s career.
For now, there are still 11 days until Butler‘s neo-noir film returns to Netflix. Given the acclaim that Copshop has garnered since its release, it is likely to remain a significant part of Butler’s career upon its arrival on streaming. This renewed visibility will undoubtedly enhance its standing in public consciousness and revive its praise.
