George R.R. Martin will always be known for his work writing the novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire, which was later adapted into the hit HBO TV series, Game of Thrones. Despite a rocky ending that left most fans sour on the series, the Game of Thrones story has continued with a pair of prequels, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The former aired its first season back in 2022, with its second set to arrive this summer, and the latter first burst onto the scene this year, though it has been renewed for a second season already.
While Martin is most known for the Game of Thrones franchise, he is involved in other properties unrelated to the hit fantasy world. One of those is Dark Winds, the hit supernatural Western produced by Martin that aired its first season back in 2022 and has already followed it with three more seasons in 2023, 2025, and 2026. The fourth season is ongoing, with the next episode set to arrive this Sunday, March 15. The series stars Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon as a pair of Navajo police officers in the 1970s who are forced to challenge their spiritual beliefs as they search for clues in a double murder case.
Dark Winds has already been renewed for Season 5, which is in production in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the show is still building out its ensemble. News broke this afternoon that Martin Sensmeir has joined the cast of Dark Winds in a recurring role. Sensmeir is famous for his roles in Chris Pratt’s Terminal List series and also for starring in Yellowstone and 1883. He will play a former Vietnam veteran turned racetrack worker with a history with Chee.
When Does ‘Dark Winds’ Season 5 Come Out?

This comes as no shock to Dark Winds fans, who are used to new seasons of the show coming often.
