Netflix TV Show Likely Renewed for Season 4 After Update

Ahead of its highly anticipated return next year, Netflix‘s hit action thriller The Night Agent has received a major update, hinting at a potential season renewal. The release date for the third season of the Gabriel Basso-led show hasn’t been revealed yet, now nearly a year after the second installment dropped ten new episodes that received a Certified Fresh rating of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.

What’s the new update for The Night Agent?

According to Deadline, The Night Agent has scored a $31.6 million (40%) California tax credit, confirming the streamer’s plans to relocate the show’s main filming location from New York City to Los Angeles. This new update also appears to guarantee the show’s Season 4 renewal. Even though Netflix hasn’t officially greenlit Season 4, its writers’ room has already begun.

Based on Matthew Quirk’s novel, The Night Agent was created and executive-produced by Shawn Ryan. The cast includes Gabriel Basso, Luciane Buchanan, Amanda Warren, Louis Herthum, Berto Colon, Michael Malarkey, Keon Alexander, Hong Chau, Arienne Mandi, Brittany Snow, Teddy Sears, Navid Negahban, and Rob Heaps. Season 3 will also introduce new characters played by Jennifer Morrison (Once Upon a Time), Stephen Moyer (True Blood), David Lyons (Revolution), Genesis Rodriguez (Lioness), Suraj Sharma (How I Met Your Father), and Callum Vinson (Chucky).

“The series is a sophisticated, character-based, action-thriller centering on a low-level FBI Agent, Peter Sutherland, whose efforts to save The President in Season 1 earn him an opportunity to become a Night Agent in Season 2,” reads the show’s newest synopsis. “But working in the secretive organization of Night Action will propel Peter into a world where danger is everywhere and trust is in short supply.”
