CBS has officially announced the early Season 2 renewal of one of its latest police procedural TV shows, which just made its debut on February 23. Titled CIA, the show is led by Lucifer star Tom Ellis as Colin Glass and Chicago Med star Nick Gehlfuss as Agent Bill Randall.
According to Nielsen (per Deadline), the show’s debut episode garnered 8.4 million multiplatform viewers within 7 days. Its first three episodes also won the time slot against popular CBS shows like The Rookie and The Voice. Episode 5 premieres tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and will also stream on Paramount+.
What do we know about CBS’s new CIA series?
CIA was created by Dick Wolf, David Hudgins, Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen, and Warren Leight. It serves as a spin-off to the network’s long-running FBI franchise. The cast includes Natalee Linez as Gina Gosian, Necar Zadegan as Nikki Reynard, Jeremy Sisto as Jubal Valentine, James Chen as Ian Lim, Missy Peregrym as Maggie Bell, and Alana de la Garza as Isobel Castille. It is produced by Universal Television in association with Wolf Entertainment and CBS Studios.
“When by-the-book FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman (Gehlfuss) is loaned out to a clandestine CIA/FBI task force, he finds himself teamed up with secretive and roguish CIA Agent Colin Glass (Ellis),” reads the official logline. “Together they will work covert operations in New York, uncovering international plots, terrorist cells, and geopolitical secrets. On CIA, Bill will learn the rules of this murky world on the fly as Colin leads him deeper into spy games where only one thing is clear — their work keeps America safe, even if no one will ever know what they did in the shadows.”
