New Music Releases for July 2025

The exciting new music releases for July 2025 feature highly anticipated albums from the revitalized Styx, the reunited Alice Cooper group, and a newly remastered edition of Jethro Tull that fans won’t want to miss. These albums promise to deliver a fresh sound while honoring their storied legacies, making this month a must-watch for music enthusiasts.

The avian-themed album, Circling From Above, marks Styx’s third studio release since 2017. This creative resurgence began with The Mission, another compelling concept album that just narrowly missed the Billboard Top 40. Tommy Shaw, an enthusiastic birdwatcher, took a prominent role in this project. Notably, all tracks on this 41-minute, 13-song album were collaboratively crafted by Shaw, producer Will Evankovich, and singer/keyboardist Lawrence Gowan, showcasing their dynamic teamwork.

After more than 50 years, the Alice Cooper group makes a triumphant return with their new studio album, The Revenge of Alice Cooper. This release features creative contributions from all five original members, including the late rhythm guitarist Glen Buxton. In the studio, Alice Cooper collaborated with lead guitarist Michael Bruce, bassist Dennis Dunaway, and drummer Neal Smith to develop the track “What Happened to You,” which includes a riff derived from an old demo tape by Buxton, who sadly passed away in 1997.

Live from the Rainbow Theatre With Ray Cooper commemorates a historic moment: Elton John’s six-show residency in London with percussionist Ray Cooper during May 1977, which initiated a remarkable series of over 230 concerts together. Additionally, an expanded super deluxe edition of Talking Heads‘ second album has been released, featuring a plethora of studio outtakes and live recordings. More Songs About Buildings and Food was their first collaboration with producer Brian Eno, whose work on three albums with the band catalyzed their iconic sound, including the groundbreaking Remain in Light.

Jethro Tull has taken the classic 1972 album Living in the Past and expanded it into a comprehensive remastered six-disc box set entitled Still Living in the Past. This new collection has been enriched with previously unreleased demos and live tracks, offering fans a deeper insight into their musical evolution. As with their recent projects, renowned producer Steven Wilson handled the remixing process. Furthermore, the release of one of the earliest live recordings by Sly and the Family Stone comes just days after the passing of band leader Sly Stone, who faced numerous health challenges. The album, The First Family: Live at Winchester Cathedral 1967, revisits a performance that occurred a year prior to the band’s debut album.
