The Pokémon Trading Card Game has confirmed its first English set for 2026, titled Ascended Heroes, which will launch in February and continue the TCG’s current Mega Evolution line. Additionally, a new set has been confirmed for January, providing a pleasant surprise for those eagerly awaiting Ascended Heroes after exploring Phantasmal Flames.
PokeBeach has revealed several new cards along with a release date of January 23, 2026. Although the site refers to it as Nihil Zero, the actual name of the set is “Munikis Zero.” This set has been known since at least the end of October, but we now have a solid release date and a number of new cards unveiled thanks to PokeBeach.
New Pokémon Cards Unveiled For January 2026 Set
The biggest reveal is Mega Zygarde ex, which has 310 HP and a move that inflicts 200 damage along with another that depends on a coin flip. It is currently numbered 46/80 and does not yet have an official English translation.
Other confirmed cards for the January 2026 set include Meowth ex, Fighting-types Binacle and Barbaracle, and characters from Pokémon Legends Z-A like Team MZ’s Naveen and Racine Construction’s Tarragon. Several new Trainer and Support cards have also been showcased, all of which can be viewed on PokeBeach.
The caveat is that these cards will first be released in Japan. Fans can import them, but those wanting official English versions will need to wait a bit longer.
Many Of These Cards Will Appear In English Later
As with most cards released first in Japan, many from the January set of Pokémon TCG will later appear in English. Given that the TCG is expected to continue releasing new sets for its Mega Evolution series, it is likely that these cards will be distributed across one or two sets in early to mid-2026.
The good news is that Ascended Heroes will arrive just a couple of weeks later, so anyone looking exclusively for English cards won’t have to wait too long. This set features Mega Dragonite on its Elite Trainer Box and includes confirmed new ex cards for Mega Gengar, Mega Charizard, Mega Lucario, and more.
With the upcoming 30th anniversary of Pokémon in 2026, numerous TCG releases are expected throughout the year, including one celebrating this significant milestone. Based on what has been revealed from this new set thus far, combined with the confirmed cards for Ascended Heroes, fans of the Pokémon Trading Card Game have much to look forward to.
