New Threat Emerges in Mayor of Kingstown, Unexpected Twist

Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 1.Mayor of Kingstown season 4 is introducing several new players into the city, with one new character presenting a major threat to the power balance. The hit crime drama series from Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon returns for a fourth season, and the city looks very different in the light of the season 3 finale.

With characters like Milo, a leader of the Russian gang, and Kareem, the prison warden, both being killed at the end of season 3, there are gaps that need to be filled in Kingstown. But of all the new characters, there is one that could present the biggest threat.

Mayor of Kingstown season 3 saw the Russians nearly wiped off the board, with both Konstantin and Milo killed in quick succession. Now, as Bunny’s crew seeks to take over the territory, their biggest opposition was set to be the Aryan Brotherhood, but a new power appears to be emerging from a rival gang.

In addition, Kareem’s death within the prison walls has resulted in a new warden being called in from out of state. Nina Hobbs, played by Edie Falco, appears to be a problem fixer assigned to Anchor Bay to get things in order. The difficulty there is the fact that Kingstown’s version of order is very specific and hinges on Mike.

Kingstown may not be a conventional city, but there is a type of order that exists. With Mike McLusky operating as the ‘Mayor,’ a title he has been assigned due to his role keeping things in check, Mike needs to be looped in to all the major players.

Previously, Mike was able to maintain solid relationships with each gang and also connect with Kareem despite their uneasy alliance. The reason this was so important is that the power in Kingstown is located both inside and outside of the prisons.

The prison is where deals between different gangs get made, and often high-ranking members of the gangs direct their crews from inside the walls of Anchor Bay. It’s also where treaties and alliances are formed, ensuring ongoing peace in the community at large.

However, with Nina Hobbs stepping in as the new warden, there could be trouble ahead. Hobbs will likely try to assert her own power and squash any illicit activity happening under her watch. While that is certainly a noble goal, it could destabilize the gangs outside and lead to more trouble.

Mike tried to reason with Hobbs and familiarize her with how things work in Kingstown, but being an outsider, it’s very likely that she will reject Mike’s advice. If Mike can’t control communication channels or coordinate deals between the parties, then it could result in chaos in Mayor of Kingstown season 4.
