Discover the Humorous Voice Behind Love Island: Meet Iain Stirling
Iain Stirling is the talented narrator captivating audiences with his humor on both Love Island UK and Love Island USA. His role as the narrator is not just entertaining but also demanding, as he juggles a rigorous filming schedule while delivering his unique comedic touch.
“At 12 PM U.K. time, I’d log on to Love Island UK,” shared the Scottish comedian with TODAY in 2024. “By that stage, the show is nearly complete. After that, I typically write for two to three hours. I usually wrap up around 4 or 4:30 PM. Following that, I dive into family time—dinner for the kids, bath time, and bedtime. I wish my life could be more rock ‘n’ roll, but that’s my reality. After a little food, I then log on for Love Island USA at 8:30 PM, which is quite early considering it’s Fiji time.”
Stirling reviews a rough cut from the comfort of his home via Zoom, as explained by executive producer Parrish to The Wrap. He, along with the writing team, focuses on capturing humorous moments from the scenes or recalling key plot points, which are then recorded in his home studio using his microphone.
His voiceovers are integrated into the episodes before they are submitted to Peacock’s legal and standards team, who sometimes request last-minute adjustments to ensure everything meets their guidelines.
“We aim to finish by around midnight or 1 AM, but I often stay up until 2:30 AM—this is still not the end of the show for the U.S. audience,” Stirling mentioned to TODAY. “Ideally, I’d stay awake until 5 or 6 AM, but that would mean I’d be sacrificing sleep entirely.”
A testament to the enduring connections fostered by the franchise: Stirling wed former Love Island UK host Laura Whitmore in 2020, and they joyfully welcomed their daughter in March 2021.
