Night 1 of Residency: Complete Song List

Kelly Clarkson officially launched her exciting new Las Vegas residency, “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions”, at The Colosseum in Caesars Palace on Friday night, July 11, a week later than originally scheduled. This much-anticipated event marks a significant milestone in her career as she showcases her talent in one of the world’s most iconic entertainment capitals.

Despite having to postpone the initial opening weekend planned for July 4 and 5 because her rehearsals took a toll on her renowned voice, Clarkson fulfilled her commitment to fans by transforming the studio experience into a captivating live performance. The unique stage setup allowed the audience to feel as if they were witnessing a genuine recording session with Clarkson, bridging the gap between her studio artistry and live performance energy.

“Studio Sessions” isn’t Clarkson’s first venture as a Las Vegas headliner. After the cancellation of her 2020 18-date “Invincible” residency due to the global pandemic, she successfully took the stage at PH Live in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in 2023 with the sold-out “Chemistry” engagement. This show commenced on July 28, 2023, originally slated for 10 performances but expanded to 14 with added shows over the New Year’s Eve holiday and the 2024 Super Bowl.

In a previous interview with Billboard in 2020, Clarkson expressed her enthusiasm for the Las Vegas stage, describing it as an exceptional opportunity. “I’m able to do things with live performances that I’ve never been able to carry out on the road,” she mentioned. “We get to stay for a bit, see and hang with fans, and then you’re not having to travel every night to a different city, which can be exhausting. I’m stoked to have a home away from home in Vegas.”

Recently, Clarkson delighted fans with a glamorous look inspired by the Sin City vibe, donning a striking plunging sequin jumpsuit adorned with feathers for the “Where Have You Been” video, reminiscent of the iconic style of fellow Las Vegas headliner Cher.

“I’ve always cherished performing in Las Vegas and the vibrant energy of the crowds. Musicians from every genre, both young and old, newcomers and legends, contribute to this remarkable city filled with artists from all corners of the globe. Many of my musical idols have had, and continue to have, incredible residencies on the Strip. I’m thrilled to create my own legacy here,” Clarkson shared.

There are a total of 16 performances of “Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions” scheduled to run through November 15, with new dates for the postponed July 4-5 shows yet to be announced. Over the course of her successful career since winning American Idol 23 years ago, Clarkson has sold over 25 million albums and 40 million singles worldwide. Along with three Grammy Awards, she boasts multiple Emmys for her six-season run of the Kelly Clarkson Show.

A highlight of the opening night came during the penultimate song when Clarkson introduced a rotating Kellyoke cover, inspired by the wildly popular segment from her daytime talk show. This time, she performed the Dolly Parton-penned “I Will Always Love You” in the iconic style of Whitney Houston’s 1992 rendition from The Bodyguard soundtrack, thrilling the audience with her powerful vocal delivery.
