Last night, Nine Inch Nails concluded their Peel It Back tour with a mesmerizing performance in Sacramento, California, where Trent Reznor provided an important clarification regarding his earlier comments about the band’s future.
Trent Reznor Addresses Nine Inch Nails’ Future Touring
The Peel It Back tour for Nine Inch Nails commenced in September 2025 and included a total of 63 performances. During a stop in Tulsa, Oklahoma on February 27, Trent Reznor suggested that the band might take a break from touring after this tour.
“I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now,” the frontman stated at that time.
During the final stages of last night’s performance in Sacramento, Reznor elaborated on the future of Nine Inch Nails.
“As some of you may know, this is the last show of the tour,” he began addressing the audience. “And to be clear, I think I said something the other day that then got misconstrued into something that is not necessarily true. What I said was, this is the last show of this tour and we don’t have any shows booked and we don’t have any plans to book any shows any time in the future so far. That doesn’t mean we may not tour again.”
“We may tour again,” he continued. “It won’t be next month, it won’t be this year. I never said we were intentionally stopping and I never meant that. But, to be truthful, we didn’t tour for a while before this tour because, frankly, I didn’t know if we could do it well and if it still mattered and if we really felt like we had something to say. The combination of this band and this crew and a lot of hard work resulted in a show that I’m really proud of. I thank you for coming and attending. I appreciate it. It makes us all feel like we have a purpose.”

Looking ahead, Reznor emphasized that NIN will remain active, regardless of touring plans.
“What we’re going to do is work on some new music and create new material,” he announced. “And if we feel inspired and if we feel we can beat this [show], we’ll see you again. And I hope to see you again and I hope you come see us if we do.”
Although their Peel It Back tour has ended, Nine Inch Nails are still scheduled to perform at both weekends of the Coachella festival next month. They will join forces with German electronic artist Boys Noize – who served as opener throughout the Peel It Back tour – to perform under the name Nine Inch Noize. Although they previously collaborated on material for the soundtracks to Challengers and TRON: Ares, little is known about what their collaborative sets will include.
How the Rest of Nine Inch Nails’ Tour Finale Went
The set began with Trent Reznor performing solo on a secondary stage located in the middle of Golden 1 Center. He launched into a mesmerizing rendition of “Something I Can Never Have,” a poignant track from 1989’s Pretty Hate Machine. With only Reznor’s voice and a piano, the performance felt stark and vulnerable while overflowing with emotion. It set the tone for what would be an unforgettable night.
Gradually, Reznor’s bandmates joined him on the secondary stage for performances of “Non-Entity” and “Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now).” A thunderous solo from drummer Josh Freese provided enough time for them to transition to the main stage, where they rocked through the 1992 classic “Wish.”
Other early highlights included “March of the Pigs,” “Find My Way,” and “Copy of A.” Smoke and an impressive display of colorful lights enveloped Reznor as he and his bandmates performed. These visuals often appeared abstract and alien-like as they moved around the band, enhancing the captivating atmosphere.
Nine Inch Nails briefly returned to the secondary stage for another block of songs, including their recent Grammy-winning single “As Alive As You Need Me to Be” and a revamped version of their iconic hit “Closer.”
They returned to the main stage to conclude with an array of classic tracks such as “The Perfect Drug,” “The Hand That Feeds,” and “Head Like a Hole.” The final song was NIN’s hauntingly beautiful track “Hurt,” embraced by an entranced audience who sang along before erupting into applause at its conclusion.
Throughout the evening, Reznor showcased his full range. Few acts can balance fragility and intensity better than Nine Inch Nails, with their frontman bearing much of the emotional weight. While watching Reznor perform, there were moments when he appeared ready to confront someone; at others, he seemed on the verge of tears. This engrossing dynamic makes Reznor a unique force in rock music, and he was at his captivating best during the Sacramento concert.
