A documentary on Noah Kahan‘s breakthrough success with Stick Season is coming to Netflix.
The Hollywood Reporter reveals the still-untitled film — first announced in June — has officially landed with the streamer as of Saturday (Jan. 31). Its release date has not been confirmed.
Directed by Nick Sweeney, the movie documents Kahan’s life following the debut of his 2022 hit album, which featured singles “Stick Season,” “Northern Attitude” and “Dial Drunk.” It’ll cover Kahan on tour, working on new music and “returning to his rural Vermont roots and family as he navigates deeply personal struggles,” according to THR.
Stick Season rose to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in 2024. Kahan earned his first Top 10 single on the Hot 100 with the set’s title track, as well as a Grammy nomination for best new artist that year.
“When we started filming, I had no idea what we’d capture, only that Noah was determined to be honest about everything, especially the messy bits,” director Sweeney said in a statement published on Saturday. “He was in a strange in-between moment, caught in the collision between almost surreal fame and a quieter inner world he’d tried to keep offstage. The doc will stream on Netflix via RadicalMedia, Live Nation Studios, Polygram Entertainment and Federal Films. Samantha Mustari, Dave Sirulnick, Stacey Reiss, Ryan Kroft, Vaughn Trudeau, Anna Keegan, David Blackman, Jeff Ludwig and Devon Libran are credited as producers. Kahan recently announced the release date for his next album, The Great Divide. The LP arrives on April 24. Its first single, which dropped on Friday, is also called “The Great Divide”; a music video is expected to premiere as part of Mastercard’s commercial time during the 2026 Grammys on CBS and Paramount+ Sunday (Feb. 1).
