The movie currently has a 58% Rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Time Out gave it 3 out of 5, writing: “Although the quips aren’t always sharp enough and the sleight of hand a little lacking, it takes a hard heart not to cheer as a few young victims of a broken system carve out their own little bit of magic.”
AV Club gave it a B, writing: “The star-studded cast clearly loves making these movies together and that sense of enthusiasm goes a long way towards selling the knowingly ridiculous magic.”
IndieWire gave it a B-, writing: “I felt, if not magic, a generous dash of cinematic enchantment. Let’s make four more of these things.”
Seattle Times gave it 2.5 out of 4, writing: “Ultimately, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is never quite as much fun as you expect it to be, particularly when Pike isn’t on screen. Despite a character intoning that we all ‘need magic more than ever,’ this movie didn’t have enough of it.”
Slant gave it a 1.5 out of 4, writing: “As with its predecessors, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is completely uninterested in convincing its audience that any of the Four Horsemen’s bombastic tricks could ever be accomplished by any actual human being.”
