Oasis Reunion Show Had Noel Gallagher Considering Exit

Noel Gallagher expressed that he wanted to leave the stage as the first Oasis reunion show commenced, as he was unprepared for the overwhelming emotions he felt.

He and his brother Liam kicked off their first concert since 2009 in Cardiff, Wales, on July 4. However, just minutes into the performance, Noel shared with the BBC that he was experiencing a wave of nerves.

“I grossly underestimated what I was getting into,” Noel remarked. “After about five minutes, I was like, ‘Alright, can I just go back to the dressing room and start this again?’”

He continued: “I’ve performed in stadiums before and all that – but I don’t mind admitting, my legs had turned to jelly after about halfway through the second song. I could have used a moment to regroup.

“But it’s been an incredible experience.”

The emotions ran so high that the brothers shared a brief hug at the conclusion of the first show. “We’re not really those kind of guys, you know what I mean?” Noel acknowledged.

He added that he was still finding it difficult to articulate how the reunion felt. “It’s fantastic just to be back… and just be doing it again. I suppose when it’s all said and done, we’ll sit back and reflect on it.

“But it’s wonderful being back in the band with Liam – I forgot how funny he is.”

Noel commented that his younger brother was “smashing it” and expressed pride in him while humorously suggesting that his good vocal performance was due to using AI.

He continued: “Having led a band for 16 years, I understand how challenging that is. I couldn’t handle the stadium experience like he does; it’s not in my nature.

“I’ve got to say… ‘Good for you, mate.’ He’s been fantastic.”

Oasis will begin the North American leg of their reunion tour in Toronto on Aug. 24 and conclude it in Los Angeles on Sept. 7, followed by additional shows in South America, England, Japan, and Australia.
