Olympics 2026: Meet the Team USA Athletes Going for Gold in the Milan Cortina Winter Games
The 2026 Olympics are officially underway.
With the Milano Cortina Winter Games scheduled from February 6 to 22, over 2,800 athletes from more than 90 countries will compete for the coveted gold medal.
This year’s event—marking the first time in Olympic history that Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo co-host—will showcase a record 116 events across 16 disciplines, such as figure skating, ice hockey, snowboarding, curling, and luge.
Even before the highly anticipated Opening Ceremony on February 7, there has been significant action with qualifiers and training sessions taking place.
Lindsey Vonn enjoyed a heartfelt reunion with fellow U.S. skiers Isabella Wright and Mary Bocock on February 3 after recovering from an ACL injury sustained three days earlier, receiving a warm welcome filled with hugs and high-fives.
“I’ve been working really hard to come into these Games in a much different position,” Vonn shared with reporters during a press conference alongside her teammates, according to NBC News. “I know what my chances were before the crash, and I know my chances aren’t the same as they stand today.”
