A new death has rocked the Arconia, and, naturally, that means plenty of new guests have arrived as potential suspects — and allies — for our favorite podcasting trio. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event for upcoming fall television shows, we’re thrilled to share a new image from Only Murders in the Building Season 5 that sheds light on one of the newcomers to the series this time around — Logan Lerman. Known for his lead role in the Percy Jackson movies, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Fury, he’s now set to check into Hulu’s murder-mystery comedy series in a recurring guest role that will see him get close to Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez). Though it’s not known who he’s playing, he is seen standing close to Mabel in the apartment, hinting that he could be brought into the investigation.

Lerman is far from the only big name that the trio will meet throughout Season 5. Four beloved guests are confirmed to be returning from previous seasons, including Meryl Streep as Oliver’s now-wife Loretta Durkin, Da’Vine Joy Randolph as the trio’s police ally Detective Williams, Richard Kind as the West Tower resident Vince Fish, and, for the first time since Season 2, Nathan Lane as Teddy Dimas. Also returning is recurring star Michael Cyril Creighton as the trio’s neighbor, Howard. Nine prominent newcomers have also been confirmed, with Lerman joined by Bobby Cannavale, Renée Zellweger, Christoph Waltz, Téa Leoni, Keegan-Michael Key, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, and Jermaine Fowler. Of that group, Leoni is technically returning after showing up in the closing moments of the Season 4 finale to help set the stage for the mystery to come.

What Is ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 5 About?

Selena Gomez and Logan Lerman in Only Murders in the Building Season 5

Season 5 of Only Murders picks up in the moments after the Arconia trio finds the historic building’s longtime doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca), dead in the fountain outside. Charles, Oliver, and Mabel have seen enough in their crime-solving to know that this was no accident and set out on a trail that leads them to the shadowiest corners of New York. There, they begin unraveling a web of secrets with some surprising connections back to the Arconia.

This time, they’ll have to reckon with the power players behind the scenes, including influential billionaires and old-school mobsters, as well as mysterious residents of the building who have yet to be explored. As the investigation continues, everything opens up to reveal an ongoing struggle for control between the legacy crime families in New York and new, more sinister movers and shakers. It’s not quite as adventurous as taking the podcasters to Los Angeles, but it does show them all a side of the city they never understood.

Lester isn’t the only victim the trio may be interested in. In her late-season appearance in Season 4, Leoni played Sofia Caccimelio, the wife of the missing “Dry Cleaning King of Brooklyn,” Nicky Caccimelio. Nicky has connections to the Caputo crime family, and although it doesn’t involve the Arconia on its surface, Sofia approached the podcasters with the assurance that his disappearance has everything to do with the building. Between that and the fresh faces brought in, creators Martin and John Hoffman have some exciting developments to reveal when the seven-time Emmy-winning series returns.
