‘Ordinary’ by Alex Warren Tops Billboard Global Charts

Alex Warren’s chart-topping hit “Ordinary” continues to dominate the music scene, achieving an impressive fourth consecutive week at No. 1 on the prestigious Billboard Global 200. This remarkable feat also marks its third week reigning supreme on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. chart, solidifying its status as the biggest song in the world today.

In a noteworthy development, Morgan Wallen secures two entries in the top 10 of the Global 200, led by his latest track “What I Want,” featuring the talented Tate McRae. This single is part of Wallen’s new album, I’m the Problem, which debuts at No. 1 on the U.S.-based Billboard 200, achieving the year’s most significant week in terms of equivalent album units. Additionally, JIN of BTS sees his song “Don’t Say You Love Me” make a strong entrance into the top 10 of both global charts, while his album Echo starts at an impressive No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

The Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, which were launched in September 2020, rank songs based on comprehensive streaming and sales data collected from over 200 territories worldwide. This data is meticulously compiled by Luminate. The Global 200 chart incorporates worldwide data, whereas the Global Excl. U.S. chart focuses exclusively on territories outside of the United States, providing a global perspective on musical trends.

Chart rankings derive from a weighted formula that includes official streams from both subscription and ad-supported tiers of audio and video music services, as well as download sales. The latter category reflects purchases made through full-service digital music retailers globally, while sales from direct-to-consumer (D2C) platforms are excluded from these calculations, ensuring an accurate representation of the most popular songs.

Currently, “Ordinary” leads the Global 200 with an astonishing 69.7 million streams, reflecting a slight increase of 1% week-over-week, alongside 11,000 units sold, although this represents a 5% decrease. These figures were recorded in the week spanning from May 16 to May 22, showcasing the song’s enduring popularity across the globe.

Remaining strong, “Die With a Smile” retains its position at No. 2 on the Global 200, following an impressive 18-week run at No. 1 since its debut last September. This achievement ranks just below Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which held the top spot for 19 weeks since the chart’s inception. Additionally, the collaboration “APT.” by ROSÉ and Bruno Mars holds steady at No. 3 after an impressive 12-week stint at No. 1 starting in November, while Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” remains at No. 4 after three weeks at the top last August.

Within the Global 200, Wallen’s “What I Want,” featuring McRae, makes a strong debut at No. 5, amassing 39.3 million streams and 2,000 units sold worldwide. Furthermore, his track “Just in Case” makes its first appearance in the top 10, climbing from No. 56 to No. 9, with 32.1 million streams—a significant 83% increase—and 3,000 units sold, which is up 53% globally. This brings Wallen’s total to five career top 10 entries on the Global 200, while McRae achieves her second, after her hit “Greedy” led the list for two weeks in late 2023.

Also making waves in the Global 200, JIN’s “Don’t Say You Love Me” enters the chart at No. 7, having accumulated 42.8 million streams and 32,000 units sold globally. An updated tally of BTS members’ solo achievements in the Global 200 reveals that Jung Kook leads with five entries, followed by Jimin and JIN with three each, V with two, and Suga with one. As a group, BTS has an impressive total of 11 top 10 entries.

“Ordinary” also claims the No. 1 spot on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, garnering 50.4 million streams—a 3% increase—and 5,000 units sold, which reflects a 5% decrease outside the United States.

“Die With a Smile” remains firmly in the No. 2 position after an impressive 17-week run at the top of the Global Excl. U.S. chart since September. The only track to have led longer is “APT.,” which holds at No. 3 and has been at the top for 19 weeks, starting in November. Similarly, “Birds of a Feather” remains at No. 4, following its three weeks at No. 1 last August.

Meanwhile, JIN’s “Don’t Say You Love Me” makes its mark on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, debuting at No. 5 with 38.9 million streams and 19,000 units sold globally. An updated count of BTS members’ solo successes in the Global Excl. U.S. shows Jung Kook leading with seven entries, followed by Jimin with five, and both JIN and V with four each.
