In an innovative artistic venture, Ozzy Osbourne collaborated with a group of chimpanzees to create five unique pieces of art, which are now being auctioned off to raise funds for endangered ape species. This initiative not only showcases Osbourne’s creativity but also highlights the plight of chimpanzees and the need for conservation efforts.
The legendary frontman of Black Sabbath, who recently wrapped up his final concert, initiated each canvas with a carefully applied tonal background. He then allowed the chimps, named Kramer, Sable, Sophie, and Janice, to express their creativity by adding vibrant colors to the artwork. This collaboration not only reflects Ozzy's artistic journey but also the joyful spontaneity of the chimps’ contributions.
The finished artworks are aptly named to resonate with Osbourne’s musical legacy, drawing connections to his iconic songs and albums. Titles such as Technical Ecstasy, Electric Funeral, Blizzard of Ozz, Tattooed Dancer, and Paranoid offer fans a glimpse into the heart of the music that shaped a generation.

Each piece, personally signed by the Prince of Darkness himself, starts at an auction price of £1,000 (approximately $1,360), with the Omega Auctions sale concluding on July 17. This auction represents a unique chance for collectors and fans to own a piece of history while supporting a noble cause.
“I paint because it gives me peace of mind, but I don’t typically sell my paintings,” Osbourne mentioned in a statement. “This time, I’ve made an exception for these collaborations because it raises vital funds for Save the Chimps, a sanctuary dedicated to providing care for hundreds of apes rescued from laboratories, roadside zoos, and wildlife trafficking.”
The Omega Auctions team elaborated: “Ozzy meticulously painted intricate, multicolored base coats on five canvases, after which the talented ape artists at the sanctuary added their own brushstrokes. This presents a rare opportunity to own an original work of art created by Ozzy Osbourne, with the proceeds dedicated to supporting the essential work of Save The Chimps.”
Ozzy Osbourne Acknowledges His Limited Artistic Skills in a Humorous Way
The sanctuary, situated on a sprawling 150 acres in Fort Pierce, Florida, serves as a refuge and provides lifetime care for hundreds of chimpanzees. Here, the animals receive exceptional veterinary care, nutritious meals, and various forms of social enrichment, including the opportunity to engage in painting activities.
“I don’t have any artistic skill,” Osbourne humorously admitted to his family in a media clip last year. “I can’t paint a portrait or anything like that. I just enjoy mixing colors.” When asked about his creative process regarding naming the artworks, he shared that the titles always came at the end. He fondly recalled one of his favorite pieces, which he whimsically named “Dreams on Toast!”
