Jack Osbourne is reflecting on his father Ozzy Osbourne‘s final days.
As many may know, the Black Sabbath icon passed away in July 2025, just 17 days after his farewell concert. He was 76 years old.
In a recent interview, Jack, 40, shared a conversation with his father that took place weeks prior, indicating that the rock legend felt he was “done.”

After the concert, Jack remembered the night before he returned to Los Angeles.
While assisting his father in getting ready for bed, Jack noted that Ozzy looked at himself in the mirror and said, “I think I’m going to cut my hair off.”
When Jack inquired about why, Ozzy replied, “I’ve retired. I’m not a rock star anymore.”
Looking back, Jack now understands that Ozzy “was done. He was at peace with his journey.”
Jack expressed that he finds comfort in his father’s words.
“I believe we have some choice in the matter,” he explained. “If you’re unwell and your body is at a point where it’s like, ‘Hey, you have a choice here,’ on a deep spiritual level, I think that maybe consciously or subconsciously, you can decide when you’re ready to move on.”
Despite this insight and Ozzy‘s health challenges, Jack mentioned that his father’s passing was still a “surprise” for their family.
<p“It was indeed a surprise,” Jack stated. “Everyone knew he was ill… but we didn’t expect it to happen so quickly.”
Jack also shared that the day Ozzy passed started like any other.
<p“He was up and about, doing his usual activities, had some breakfast, and then that was it,” Jack recalled.
If you missed it, Ozzy‘s wife Sharon Osbourne explained why she did not go through with the suicide pact they had.
