Paramount+ Price Increase Details and Date Announced

Paramount+ subscribers in the U.S. will see a price increase starting early next year. The streamer confirmed that it will raise subscription prices beginning January 15, 2026, as part of its plan to boost investment in original programming, sports, and user experience.

When will Paramount+ prices increase and by how much?

The Paramount+ price changes will affect both monthly and annual plans. The Essential (ad-supported) plan will increase from $7.99 to $8.99 per month, while the Premium (ad-free) plan will rise from $12.99 to $13.99 per month.

Annual subscriptions will also go up as Essential will cost $89.99 per year, and Premium will rise to $139.99 per year. The company confirmed that similar adjustments will roll out in Canada and Australia. This is the latest price hike for Paramount+ since August 2024, when monthly rates increased by $1–$2 across two tiers (via ScreenRant).

In a letter to shareholders, Paramount CEO David Ellison said the move is aimed at sustaining the company’s ongoing investments in content and user experience. “Ongoing investments in Paramount+ are enhancing the value we deliver to consumers. To support this continued investment, we plan to implement price increases in the U.S. early in the first quarter of 2026. These changes will fuel continued reinvestment in the user experience and deliver an even stronger slate of programming for our customers in the year ahead and beyond,” Ellison said (via The Hollywood Reporter).

The upcoming price increase follows Skydance Media’s $8 billion acquisition of Paramount Global in August 2025. The merger has led to a significant strategic shift, with Ellison prioritizing direct-to-consumer growth and expanded content spending.

In its Q3 2025 earnings report, Paramount+ confirmed plans to invest over $1.5 billion in 2026 for new programming. This includes a major expansion of UFC coverage, Paramount+ Originals, and an expanded film lineup.

Paramount+ is also ramping up its original programming with returning hits like Tulsa King and Landman, along with upcoming projects under a new four-year deal with the Duffer Brothers, the creators of Stranger Things.
