Paris is currently challenging the executors of the estate, especially concerning apparent “premium payouts” to three law firms in 2018.

The news of the apparent benefits received by Paris came as part of a motion filed by the executors in response, per People.

“Few have benefited more from the Executors’ business judgment than Petitioner herself, who has received roughly $65 million from the Estate in benefits,” they write in the filing, stating they turned her dad’s estate into a global brand.

“She would have never received that had the Executors followed a typical playbook for an estate like this one in July 2009,” the filing reads, citing previous praise from a judge.

“The Executors’ business judgment has taken an estate that ‘started out as nothing but debt and substantial ongoing obligations’ and ‘turned [it] into a $2 billion estate’ — an estate that is now ‘a powerhouse and a force in the music business today.’”

Earlier in the year, Paris filed a petition objecting to “gifts” and “gratuities” of $625,000 paid to three law firms for what Paris called “uncaptured time.”

Sony bought EMI shares from Michael Jackson‘s estate in 2018, which is allegedly when the executors requested approval for $625,000 in payments to three law firms.

The legal battle actually extends back to 2010, when a court order granted executors of the estate the ability to pay attorneys without getting court approval. Paris wants that decision revoked. There will be another court hearing on Thursday (October 16), per People.

Paris also recently called out the upcoming biopic about her dad.
