Kim Kardashian Shares Her Harrowing Experience of Overcoming Fear During a Violent Robbery
Kim further detailed her traumatic experience to David Letterman on a revealing episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction that premiered in October 2020.
During the horrifying incident, two masked assailants were “yelling at me in French, and I just sat up, startled by what was unfolding before me. They kept shouting ‘The ring, the ring,’ and at that moment, I was bewildered,” Kim recounted. She quickly realized they were demanding her engagement ring, which she had carelessly left by the bed. “In a panic, I handed him my ring, and then he grabbed me unexpectedly. I was wearing a robe but had nothing on underneath it,” she explained, capturing the sheer vulnerability of the situation.
With tears welling in her eyes, Kim expressed her concern, saying, “I don’t want to ruin my makeup.”
“He forcefully grabbed me and pulled me closer,” Kim continued, reflecting on the grim reality of the situation. “In that moment, I realized I wasn’t wearing anything underneath, and I thought to myself, ‘Okay, this is the time; I’m going to get raped. Just deal with it; it’s going to happen. Prepare yourself.’ So I steeled myself for the worst, and then—I don’t know why I’m crying, I’ve talked about this before—but then he proceeded to tie me up using handcuffs, zip ties, and finally, he used duct tape to cover my mouth and eyes,” she shared, emphasizing the terror she felt.
Before he blindfolded her, Kim recalled, “I saw him rummaging through my entire jewelry box, triumphantly holding it up as if to say, ‘Aha! We’ve struck gold!’ But throughout this ordeal, I kept glancing at the concierge, who had been coerced into unlocking my door at gunpoint, uncertain of who he was, and I found myself thinking, ‘What is happening? Are we going to die? Just tell them I have children, I have babies, I have a husband, I have a family; I need to get home! Please, tell them to take anything, I’ll never say I saw them; just take everything!’”
