‘White Lotus’ Star Patrick Schwarzenegger Addresses Controversial Nepotism Allegations in Casting
The White Lotus has taken a bold turn in its narrative.
The storyline has been rich with tension surrounding the Ratliff family siblings, and if you thought the initial sexual undertones between Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and his younger brother Lochlan (Sam Nivola) were unsettling, the March 16 episode escalated those feelings dramatically. In a shocking twist, viewers were confronted with a drug-induced, incestuous kiss between the two brothers, raising eyebrows and questions about the show’s direction and themes.
According to Patrick, the fifth episode is pivotal as “everything starts to unravel,” adding depth to the characters’ development.
“One of the central themes is that you enter the White Lotus as one person, and you leave transformed,” he elaborated in an interview with Today. “What happens when everything you believed about yourself is stripped away? This transformation is particularly relevant for Saxon, who initially walks into the White Lotus exuding confidence and self-assurance, only to have his identity thoroughly challenged as the story unfolds.”
The 31-year-old actor also highlighted the deliberate sense of discomfort crafted for the audience, emphasizing that the unsettling atmosphere is a conscious choice by the show’s creator, Mike White. This intentional approach enhances the viewing experience, making it both engaging and thought-provoking.
